[HOUSTON] – Veritas Title Partners today announced it has opened a new office to serve residential customers in the Clear Lake and League City areas of Houston.

This is the second office the company has opened since it launched a new residential division in November, signifying the company's confidence in the upscale residential market despite the recent market slump in other housing segments.

"While some segments of the residential real estate market have slowed in Houston, we see continued vigor in sales of upper-end, single-family homes located in certain desirable suburban communities, including Clear Lake and League City," Michael Knudsen, chief financial officer of Veritas Title Partners, said.

Veritas has hired Karen Stromme, who was previously the manager of First American Title Company's Keemah branch, to manage the Veritas League City office. Stromme brings a core team of experienced title professionals who will help handle the company's local commercial business as well as residential.

Veritas Title Partners, which is well established nationally in the commercial real estate market, has served Houston's residential market for more than a year. It officially launched a fully-resourced residential division this fall, with an office in Houston's Upper Kirby District.

"Some people thought it was a bold move during a time of such uncertainty in the market," Knudsen said. "But we are doing very brisk business in the upscale residential segment. With the commitments we have from developers and other partners, we are confident that we can sustain this activity."

While the relative inaccessibility of credit in the sub-prime mortgage market has dampened home sales at lower price points, it is not affecting homebuyers in the upper price ranges of popular master-planned communities, Knudsen explained.
